Juan Carlos Vega

Dr. Vega is an adept music educator and musician with nearly 25 years of hands-on experience. Currently delivers music pedagogy courses to graduate students at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and is well established as an independent pianist and producer. His career as music teacher started at the Josefita Monserrate de Sellés elementary school. Later on, he developed and implemented a comprehensive music program at the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola and acted as Fine Arts Coordinator and Choral Director. Having been a long-time pedagogue at all levels is acquainted with innovative approaches to music education and research-based practice.
Vega holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education from Boston University, a Master of Education in Music from Cambridge College, and a Bachelor's in Music Education of the Conservatory of Music of PR. He also attained a Certificate in Pop Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston. As a pianist, regularly performs with artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Lucecita Benítez, Banda de Conciertos de Puerto Rico, Lissette, Wilkins, the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
